[4animals] Meeting this Thursday at the Green Door

[ottawa animal advocates]

A general meeting to discuss particular ideas/interests of activists regarding possible future
AR related events in Ottawa will be held:

This Thursday June 15th at 7:30pm at the Green Door, 198 Main Street  based on the availability of those who confirmed. I will provide a transcript of the ideas or tentative plans discussed for those who showed or still have an interest in planning but can't make it out that night.

Anyone who hasn't confirmed please feel free to come out! ...the number one goal of the meeting is always to come up with ways to help reduce animal suffering to the best of our ability...(I have room for 2 in my car if you live in the central or south/west end and need a lift home so please let me know if you're interested).

Some possible discussion topics include:
- factory farming, pro-veg issues, animal testing issues, local issues, August Shriner's Circus Protest and perhaps anything other than fur which could be reserved for a meeting date a little closer to the next fur season. 
-The pros and cons of more 'positive' or 'promotional' demonstration ideas as opposed to more confrontational demonstration ideas. 
- Should we add other elements to anti-factory farming demos such as health risks of eating meat and environmental consequences of eating meat eg. the link to rainforest destruction and the fossil fuel and water waste involved in running the factory farms to try to strengthen the justification for not eating meat- or just stick to animal rights/cruelty related reasons?
- ideas for signs at factory farming/pro-veg events
- creative ideas on how to draw media to factory farming demonstrations eg. a 'human meat tray', street theatre, a vegan/vegetarian potluck or other ideas promoting a cruelty-free lifestyle..
-  The possibility of setting up TV's/DVD players downtown to play 'MEET YOUR MEAT' and/or other videos in the evening- for better visibility (They're doing it in Toronto!)
