He needs a place to stay, assures me he is hyper-considerate of others and not at all needy. I had originally offered to host him, but work commitments now prevent me from doing that. If you can offer him a couch, please e-mail me at pam.mayhew at gmail.com. Also, I thought it would be a good idea for interested persons to meet up with Jon at a veggie restaurant either on Thursday or Friday. I know I've always struggled with the whole issue of often preaching to the converted, and wanted new ways of reaching people. Jon has a wealth of experience in reaching out to the general public which he'd love to share. Any interest in such a get together? One more thing - does anyone have any suggestions as to good places to leaflet at either of our universities? Anyone interested in leafletting with Jon? Thanks! I have also learned from ZOOCHECK CANADA that the Shrine Circus will no longer be using exotic cats. Turning to factory farming, for those who haven't heard, Farm Sanctuary will be holding a WALKATHON for factory farmed animals on: Saturday October 7th on Parliament Hill. Hopefully many people will be able to attend this event and also spread the word to others. It takes place on a Saturday and they have allowed for lots of notice. For all the details on the event and how to start a pledge form, please refer to the OAA web site at: http://www.ottawa-animal-advocates.org under the EVENTS page. We are also hoping to get the input of anyone interested in participating in actions related to the upcoming fur season. Here are two possible meeting dates for a meeting to brainstorm ideas related to leafletting and media oriented protests for the upcoming fur season. Once we finished with the distribution of DVD's and pamphlets through the market place we are planning a lunch at a near by vegetarian restaurant. There will be flyer that will be placed downtown to advertise the event. The final draft of these flyers will be created by the end of this weekend. I will forward the electronic copy of the flyers for all those who wish to part take in the hand out of these flyers. So far I have seen much less real fur in stores in the suburbs but I'm not sure about downtown so it would be very helpful if someone who lives closer to downtown, goes to school downtown or who frequents the Rideau Centre, could give a head's up on which stores have the fur. The volunteer would need to be thorough in making sure that fur is real and whether any labels on fur garments are labeled "Made in China". Please let me know asap if you can be the mystery shopper. We would need to know which stores are selling real animal fur before the meeting on October 5th. Bye for Now, Victoria -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
