This weekend I found out that all of their pastas are made from eggs. The only vegan item is the salad and the fries. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <1ed901c65079$d3c9a3f0$6500a8c0@v> ok, I allowed the last email to this list by mistake... but since there were a couple that somehow went through on their own recently, let me just state again that THIS mailing list is basically only for me to post upcoming meetup events. If you would like to send and receive mail about animals and related actions/protests, then the 4animals at ottawaveg.com is where you do that. If you want to send and receive all other mail related to veg*nism, then vegchat at ottawaveg.com is the appropriate place for that. Veg*n Meetup at Sacred Garden When: Friday, March 31, 2006, 7:00 PM Where: Sacred Garden 1300 Bank Street Chesley and Bank, in Old Ottawa South Ottawa , ON K1S 3Y4 613.733.8424 Pamela says: It was quite good! It's at 1300 Bank (@ Riverdale). It was really nicely decorated, nice atmosphere, very cute. The food was good, although there's a fairly heavy focus on faux chicken/beef/shrimp etc. I had the faux beef in my meal substituted with tofu with no problems. It is 100% vegetarian, and anything that's not vegan can pretty much be veganized (aside from a few things). The rice noodles are vegan but they have at least one kind of noodles that contain egg. The menu has a little blurb in the front about how they do not use fish sauces in any of their dishes, instead using spices to create the flavours. Meals are between $10-13. Here's two more "reviews" that my veg friends sent to me: Gen says: holy crap! that place is SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD!!!! i had the pad thai, with the shrimp and chicken but no egg, of course. the shrimp tasted too real - i actually thought i was eating seafood. the pad thai was delicious, although a bit sweet (which i don't remember pad thai being, in general), but i have a sweet tooth anyway so it's all good. My husband had the pad thai mow, with beef. it was spicy and yummy - but almost too spicy for my palate (i have a sensitive stomach). we started with spring rolls with the dipping sauce - holy crap, some of the best spring rolls i've ever had. we couldn't finish our plates, the servings (as you must know), are freaking huge. dessert was disappointing; i asked about the fried banana and the guy said only the lemon sauce had some margarine in it so we ordered it but with the sauce on the side. five minutes later the other guy came over, apologised profusely and said that there was cream in the batter. we said to cancel our order but i guess it was already made because he brought it out moments later and said "no charge'. so my husband ate it and said it was really good (of course anything fried would be). the ice creams are in fact, made with milk. boo. And Caroline says: Thank you so much for recommending this restaurant! My husband and I just got back from our Valentine's Day dinner. The food was excellent and the service superb, especially given it was V-day. We arrived early and lucky we did; when we left, there was a long lineup at the door. We'll definitely be going back, and bringing friends and family. (I won't rave too much, don't worry; I doubt that too many people I know will want to go.... oh well, their loss!) My only fear is that the owners/operators become victims of their own success. RSVP for Veg*n Meetup at Chez Nam Undecided yet about the day.. let me know if the 12th works or not for you.
