Howdy Fellow V*ggies !

What follows is an interesting "ad" for vegetarianism that i received,
and then i rant a bit...

I left my car at the ottawa airport this week, and when i got back
there was a paper on the windshield. This is rare at the airport, but
what really stood out was the topic.
Alternative Living / being vegetarian / Change your life Change your
heart Change your diet No more killing Be healthy and happy
In fact you can see the paper at http://al.godsdirectcontact.org.tw/
except that the paper had websites at the bottom and french on the
back (front).
It says the contact is AL at Godsdirectcontact.org
Other sites quoted are http://www.vegsoc.org/ and
http://www.happycow.net/north_america/canada/index.html
it says local contact is at :
http://www.godsdirectcontact.org.tw/eng/cp/index.htm
which doesn't list a name for ottawa but has a name for montreal.

Well i thought y'all might be interested. Certainly the first time i get such.
It is encouraging.

Also, I sat in on a presentation where they talked about epidemics
briefly. If you're interested i should have three pages with a few
basic facts on them in a week. They presented the H5N1 and basically
said (as i recall) a billion people would die. They also said this was
only one of many possible hits, and that it would likely hit us
eventually. They also pointed out that it is physically impossible to
create enough vaccines (although they didn't explain why), so
basically they could at most create about 30% of what is needed. They
pointed out that the only way this contagion will be controlled is by
isolation, ie. everyone stays at home. The minimum isolation is 10
days , 15 days is better. Now the reason i bring this up is of course
that this sort of disease and many others are directly related to meat
eating, and are of course yet another imposition from meat eaters onto
all of us. As is pollution, destruction of nature, and so forth. There
is such a selfishness and "me" culture it really is depressing !
Relating back to previous emails, why can't Ottawa build a strong
public transportation infrastructure. People are so concerned about
saving lives yet they are happy to pollute etc. Interestingly there is
a beginning of awareness that medicine should perhaps be about
prevention and not just bad "fixing".

Well, i've covered enough territory here, jumping all around all these
frustrating problems, and having started from a glimmer of hope:
people trying to spread the word of v*gan.

Be well all, and let me know what you think !
